Daddy Always Taught Me To Use All Of My Resources...

I honestly didn't picture my first post here at Big D's to be this post.

I had intended to post about the duct taped cat, lovingly named Sticky by the ASPCA.

However, things have a tendency to not turn out as planned....

With Big Dick's permission, I'm asking for help.

I'm now part of the unemployed masses. It took an hour for me to box everything up and pull all my files from the hard drive at the end of business yesterday. I went gracefully, too. I gritted my teeth and did an overview of open jobs with my boss and even left the password to the computer sticky-noted to the monitor.

I know many of you may be sitting there, reading this, telling me to take my luck and shove it. Telling me to get over it. That a bit of hard work and pushing my resume off on employers will soon land me a decent job.

I'm firing right back at you: Shut the fuck up, I am. I'm also utilizing every resource available to me, like Daddy taught me. Dick happens to have a lot of DFW engineer types that read his blog, per Big D himself. Why not reach out to you? Why can't I post my resume, submit my resume, and still ask for help?

I'm an AutoCAD drafter. I've got 2008 on my computer at home, and am fairly up to date on the new system. I've worked with 2000, 2004, and 2005 up until the lay off this week, so after 3 1/2 years with my last company, the contract work before that, and my student internship, I'm pretty solid with AutoCAD up to 2005. I've done redlines, custom product, and reverse engineering. I love drafting. I've even been project manager, but I won't bore you with the details. I've dealt with finicky customers, bad salesmen, and very uptight vendors. There's an array of jobs under my belt that all happened to fall under the "AutoCAD Drafter" job description per my previous employers.

What I really am asking here, is...if you know of a position that is hiring in the DFW area (or even if they aren't hiring, I know it never hurts to submit a resume), let me know! Email me and give me the information or request a copy of my resume to submit yourself. I'm still sorting the files I snagged from my previous employer and I realized I missed a lot, but I still have connections and will get what I need for my portfolio. Then I should be set to go into any interview.

The key is possitive thinking. And friends. This is why networking is so important!

And, for those DFW engineer types that Dick was referring to, I ask that you please keep my skills in mind and ignore the fact that you've seen my boobs on my own blog. Or not, if it helps me get a job.

By the way, aside from knowing AutoCAD, I also am pretty proficient in MS Office, play in Photoshop, am a quick learner, and have a great personality. If you know of anything in the DFW area that would benefit from me (and my tits), let me know!

Thanks in advance,
tCj from TastefullyObscene

Maybe not hurt you. They hurt me all the time!

Now, I'm hoping to put them to good use... ;-)

I'd say welcome to the team, but I think you were unofficially there before I was.

Tossing up a post asking for job leads is a very, very far cry from asking for a handout or something my man. No preemptive "fuck you" required. You'd be a deadbeat if you WEREN'T trying everything you could think of to find another job.

Ahhh I remember AutoCAD... I was using it when a 386/dx with a 20" Mitsubishi Diamondscan monitor was a $15000 rig... back in 1989...

    Damn, now I feel old.

Cue Og with stories about programming lathes via stone tablets and a bone chisel heheheh

1989? You don't want to know how old I was then...it would just make you feel older!

And, my dear, I'm a far cry from being a man! ;-)

Heh...I'm an unlicensed Architect (aka glorified draftsman) who've been unemployed since Dec. 31, 2008. I still haven't found a job. With over 20 years experience, one would think it'd be easy for me to get work, right? No. Everyone's hiring the unpaid interns.

I've worked on many NY buildings including the original Twin Towers in my years. I've got tons of experience in architecture and AutoCAD. I've even written my own linetypes and hatch patterns. They were simple linetypes and hatch patterns, but they were mine nonetheless.

So, if anyone's hiring tCj and wants to hire me also, I'm willing to move to the D/FW area. Just hook me up with an apartment and I'll make my way down.

And no, I'm not a freaking NY liberal; I'm on the right side and I drive a pickup truck. Have guns, will travel.
